  1. hello, looking for a pair of T-tops for a 1/18th scale smokey & the bandit trans am by ertl. ive acquired the model but no T-tops. doesn’t really have to be ertl brand as long as its black and gold to match up. cant find them anywhere. appreciate any info, site, number, thanks

    • Hi Mike

Sorry, but I am not aware of anyone making those parts. I would also imagine that the market for these replacements would be relatively small and the cost of tooling up for them would make them very expensive. If you had a top available to copy, we could do a resin reproduction. Let me know if you can find one that we can use to make a mould.

      cheers
      Tony

  2. I have been trying to reach you. You can call me at 1-570-768-6336. I am calling about the corgi cars. I have bought cars off you but I would like to have cars restored if you do this. Thanks

    • Hi Jack

Sorry but the plastic glue or welding method on those boats makes it difficult to take them apart.

My only method that has had any success for a windscreen replacement is to use a Dremel style tool and cut away the remnants of the the broken screen and then marry a new screen in to place from the outside, trimming the new screen to match the gaps and positioning from the old screen. Tedious and time consuming but can get a good result.

      Good luck.

      cheers
      Tony

  3. I have just purchased a Solido Jaguar XJ12 Cabriolet in dark blue with beige interior. The model no. is 1096. The box is complete, but rather tatty. Can you help?

  4. Nice review. The original instructions that came in the sets with the Tune-Up wrenches were pretty minimal. “If wheel needs adjustment: Use wheel wrench. Slide slot in wheel over axle. Gently straighten axle.” Your detail is superb. And I love your explanation for the eyelet. Makes sense.

    • Hi Steve

I will take a leap and say that you are referring to the 1939 Marx Tin Litho Wind-Up car with the two character heads rotating in the roof of the vehicle.

No I do not have that one available at the moment, however if you can provide some good photo’s and measurements of the box I can probably create one for you.

      cheers
      Tony

    • Hi Pat

The Matchbox Lesney 9a ladder wheel is the one I think you are referring to and there are two sizes in that model.

The smaller one is for the very early issue 9a model while the larger wheels were fitted to both the 9a and the re-sized 9b version. You can see both Matchbox Lesney 9a Fire Engine Ladder Wheels in the RecoverToy shop.

So if you are trying to match an existing wheel we will need a measurement of it from you.

The replacements are unpainted so that you can match the paint with your model. The red paint used at the time unfortunately can fade and change tone depending on many variables so if we paint one it may look really out of place on your model.

      cheers
      Tony

    • Hi Silvana

No I do not have that one available at the moment, however if you can provide some good photo’s and measurements of the box I can probably create one for you.

      Cheers
      Tony

I require repro boxes for Pre-war Dinky toy sets; RAC set, Police set, Postal set and Shepherd set.
Do you have any plans to reproduce these? Or can you recreate for me?

Thanks for that information, most of the current ‘collectable’ market products do not have a spares department.

      cheers

  7. Hi Tony, I have a Dinky Spitfire and a Dinky 6 wheel armoured car, I was wondering if there is anyone who restores Dinky items? The Spitfire is missing the propellor and canopy and the AC is missing two tyres and the canon.
    Thanks Lindsay

  13. Hi Tony, I am looking for a restored Dinky Toy “Shark Nose ” ferrari. I don’t know if you sell these once you get them, or pehaps I have to provide to you whatever I can get hold of. Time is not a problem. Thanks.

  14. I recently won a Marx windup tank marked E12 and I believe it is commonly referred to as a sparkling/ climbing tank. It is a fairly large toy by today’s standards but I do not have a box for it. Have you produced these in the past? If not, I can supply measurements and a photo of a similar toy online with the box. I would like to make this toy complete for display with a repro box.

    Please advise.

    regards,
    Roy
