Description

Corgi Toys Gift Set 12 Grand Prix Racing Set empty Reproduction Box and Tray. This the second version of this set with the later issue Lotus Climax and Cooper Maserati models with steerable front wheels with driver actions.

The outer box features a window front displaying the cars inside the foam tray. The upper left has the Porsche Carrera 6 featured in white and red highlight panels and a second one behind it in blue (a rare version of the model was made with blue panels).  The inner tray has 6 cutouts for the models and accessories to sit in.

Our reproduction polystyrene foam inner is cut specifically to match the models which would include:

• Corgi Toys 490 Volkswagen VW Racing Car Tow Truck with tools and winch (white colour body)
• Corgi Toys 330 Porsche Carrera 6
• Corgi Toys 159 Cooper Maserati (later steering issue)
• Corgi Toys 158 Lotus Climax (later steering issue)
• Corgi Toys Racing Car Trailer (Red) (no separate model number - later issue plastic towing loop)
• Accessories - witches hats / cones and hay bales.

There are also 3 race track people that should be included but are not mentioned on the box.

There are three variations of this box that are all available from RecoverToy. This is the second issue for the sets issued between 1971 and 1972.

This is a complete set of two pieces, outer box with window face and inner foam tray. Both pieces are also available seperately.
