Minor flood slows us down even more

Having had some time to catch up on outstanding orders and making new boxes, I've suffered yet another slow down with the down-pour of rain on Wednesday flooding the office and requiring that I move out lots and lots and lots of stuff so that the carpet can be lifted and dried.

I estimate that it will be Monday before I can get back to work.

RecoverToy Shopping Cart not clearing

I have had customers orders that are repeating the previous order in the latest order. From what I can work out there appears to be an issue with my store being quite old software and the latest web browsers.

Internet Explorer appears to not clear the shopping cart after the checkout.

The easy fix for this is to go to the shopping cart and for each item that you do not want tick or check the little box on the left in the column headed 'Remove", and click on Update Cart in the lower left corner. This will remove the unwanted items.

I am working on an updated shop site at the moment and hope to finish by Christmas.

New Printers now in operation at RecoverToy

Over the past three months I have had no end of trouble with printers.

The large format printing that I need for many of the reproduction boxes is not possible with a standard A4 size printer.

The large Epson 3000 was serviced and repaired three times without success and the smaller A4 Epson decided that it was time to quit.

I now have a much larger Epson 9000 printer in operation and although I am still learning how to use it I am getting some of the larger boxes printed.

I've also replaced the A4 printer and got a mid size A2 printer operating.

I will catch up on all the box orders over the next few week-ends.

Store Certificate Error Fixed

Yes, we have finally fixed the error with the SSL Certificate that provides you with a secure and safe connection to the RecoverToy on-line store.

If it seems like months that because it was months. Hopefully now I can get on with actually doing toy cars and parts and not have to worry about why the website would not do what it should.

The on-line store is now ready to accept orders again.

RecoverToy Security Access Error

There's been an error generated on the computer system that runs the RecoverToy accounts access. In trying to fix one problem, a bigger issue has been created. This results in no access for accounts or orders.

The shop site is still visible and you can (I think) add items to a shopping cart but you cannot place an order.

I am working to fix this asap, but currently there is no ETA for a fix. Hopefully within a few days.

RecoverToy Store Update

Over the past year I've had lots, and lots, of interruptions to my hobby time and while the online store has still accepted your orders, I've not been responding as quickly as I would like to be nor as quick as you would like.

As this year has unfolded we seem to have settled into a routine again and I am now planning to have back my one day a week to 'play cars' !!

The first Sunday is this weekend and I'll be working through a small mountain of around 150 back orders and trying to clear those asap.

Over the coming weeks I'll be in contact with all of you with open orders. You can check the status of your order(s) by logging into your account. All your order history is displayed in summary and with a View option to look at the details.

I have a lot to catch up on and will be doing so every Sunday.

Thanks for all the emails and I hope to make contact with all RecoverToy customers in the next few months.

RecoverToy Closure Update

Back in June I decided that it would be best if I announced the closure of RecoverToy store for a period of 3 months while I did some travelling for my other work commitments. It actually took 4 months but I am now back and hopefully settled here in Melbourne for the forseeable future.

This of course means that I have some time for my hobby of model cars and a chance to catch up on orders and repairs. However, I don't plan on officially re-opening the online store until the new year.

If you do place an order, please don't expect that it will be despatched instantly, as there are around 100 orders already ahead of you and it could be some time before I get to yours. That said, I will be cleaning up the outstanding emails in the coming weeks and will at least advise on availability of stock and responding to queries.

Website & Email affected by Domain Name Error

If you are reading this then you will know that RecoverToy is back on line. So what happened in the last week? The domain name of RecoverToy.com was due for renewal and in the process of renewing there was an error in communication somewhere which resulted in the domain not being renewed and not being renewable....

Which left me with no email and no website. For anyone who has sent email in the last 6 days or so, your emails will most likely be processed through to me in the next 24 - 48 hours. Email is retried over a period of time. If you have had a message to say that your email was undeliverable please resend it.

For everyone trying to contact RecoverToy please wait for a couple of days while I catch up on the backlog of mail that is coming through now and I hope to address all queries during this coming week.

Please note that I do only have Sundays generally as hobby time and while I try to get everything done in a day, somethings will have to be left for next weekend.

RecoverToy Store Closure

In order to catch up with outstanding orders and restorations I am closing the RecoverToy web store from this coming Saturday 13th June 2009 for a few months.

I will be conducting a sale of a large range of empty original boxes, stock of repro boxes, models for restoration and surplus items from my collection. This sale will be on eBay under the RecoverToy_USA store.

All current orders will be fulfilled over the next few weeks as time permits.

Thanks to all my customers and collecting friends for your support and I look forward to catching up with you again in the future.

eBay Stores closed for a few months

Given the large volume of orders coming through the store and a general lack of time for me to support the collecting community I have closed my two eBay stores for an indefinite period. All outstanding eBay transactions will be finalised this week. Hopefully I will catch up on all the store orders over the next two weeks.

Delayed responses this week

I have had a major melt-down with one of my computers. I've spent most of this week recovering all my data files for RecoverToy. Despite having backups most of my auction and sales information became corrupted.

I have it all recovered now but still need to sort and date and this will take me another couple of days. Hopefully by the weekend I'll be back on track and will get back to doing orders instead of file maintenance.

US Trip

Hey, I am travelling to the US and hoping to catch up with some of my long time US based collecting friends.

It's not until mid August and dates are yet to be confirmed, but I'd be interested to know what swapmeets and shows will be on August and September 2009.

If you have any pointers to good stores or markets for toy cars I'd really appreciate the information. Just use the Contact Us option to send me a message. Thanks.

Seasons Greetings!

Seasons Greetings to All !

Thanks to all my customers for their continued support over the past year. I've been heavily involved with work and at times, like now, have not been as prompt as I would like. Currently 477 unread emails but I will respond over the next couple of weeks.

For those that celebrate Christmas may it be Merry. For everyone may your New Year be safe and prosperous in spite of all the mess around us.

cheers

The last couple of weeks have been a little hectic around home and as a result I have got behind on orders and emails. I am working through this weekend and should have caught up by Sunday. If you are waiting on a reply or information then look for an email in the next 48 hours or so.

Thanks.

The issues we had last week with the web store access have all been rectified. This includes the SSL certificate authentication which required a fresh install of the certificate. The logins for all customers should be fully operational and have been tested since Saturday with no reoccurrence of the problem that prevented access.

As many of you will already know my 'real work' has been somewhat demanding in the last six months. I am travelling again over the next 3 weeks with only a few days at home.

As one of my customers reminded me the other day, "it's a hobby, let people know that it's a hobby." and with that in mind, I'll endeavour to fulfill orders when I am at home and respond to email while travelling and I hope that all my customers will understand if I am delayed in getting things done.

Moving Servers

The move from our old hosting server to the new one did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. The transfer presented a number of issues and we are still sorting stuff out.

Something like moving house except we did not need to actually unpack boxes.

But we have not had email access for about two weeks, and the SSL (secure shopping process) is still not running.

Hopefully everything will settle down over the next week.
